See our guide on what is ADB and how to install it on your system.

If that’s the case and you are yearning to get back to using your root-requiring apps, the guide below should help you. Yet, I can't do anything because none of the apps will open. If you have recently updated your Kindle Fire HD and you were rooted before, you’ll find that you no longer have root access. A video I had downloaded was able to play from the Personal Videos app. I'll also note that all my information is definitely on there. I tried numerous other apps, and none of them worked except for the "Personal Videos", "Office Suite", and other preinstalled one (Calendar and the likes). I tried opening the Amazon App Store, it wouldn't even start either. I tried getting rid of it, and nothing happened. I held on it, and the options it gave me were as if I had it installed. I tried opening ES File Explorer to see if it was rooted and it wouldn't boot. It then asked for me to register it, and I did, and then everything else popped up. I could work with that (although it wasn't ideal). I just tried to re-root it, and I was "successful" according to the program. That is, until it decided to auto-update, removing my root. For the current Fire HD 8 rooting method to work on other devices, it must be possible to put the device’s bootrom into download mode, so that it accepts the exploit when sent from a PC. I successfully rooted it, and things were working fine. Since it uses a much more modern MediaTek CPU than all other Fire TVs and Fire tablets, it may be the last to be rooted. However, recently I decided that I'l root it. I have had this kindle for quite some time.
